ABSTRACT<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

In order to assess the relationship between leisure activity and life satisfaction among one hundred and seventy ( 85 male & 85 female) teachers from different colleges of Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. The age of teachers ranged between 23 to 63 years.\u00a0 A questionnaire consisting of socio-demographic variables, degree of life satisfaction, health status and frequency of participation in different leisure activities was administered on all the subjects. Zero order correlations between degree of life satisfaction and leisure activity participation of male teachers indicated that activities like \u201cperform volunteer work\u201d; \u201cattend cultural events\u201d; \u201choliday trips\u201d; and \u201cgardening\u201d were significantly correlated. In case of female teachers \u201cperform volunteer work\u201d; \u201cengage in artistic and musical activities\u201d; \u201cperform handicraft and home repairs\u201d; \u201cparticipate in sports\u201d and \u201cattend sports events\u201d were significantly correlated with life satisfaction. Partial correlations (controlling the age & medical condition) no change in activities was observed for male teachers. In female participants \u201cattend cinema\u201d; and \u201cattending classical\\ gazal concerts\u201d were added. In female teachers, surprisingly \u201cvisiting neighbor\u201d was negatively correlated with life satisfaction.<\/p>\n
